Some Christmas Pictures

Katie and Hannah joined Madeline and I for dinner and pictures on Tuesday night. The girls did great! Hannah was interested in Santa, but Madeline was NOT a fan! Hopefully next year will be better. Here are a couple of pictures...

First Year Molars!

Today we saw that Madeline's first year molar has popped through! (No wonder she has been a little fussy!) But all in all she is great with teething; thanks to homeopathic teething tablets:-) She only needs two and is great! I love that an ALL NATURAL product works SO well!!!

Hillridge Farm with Nana and Great Nannie

We had such a GREAT time!!! Corn playground (ie a sandbox full of corn), tunnels, slides, a hayride and the pumpkin patch:-)

NC State Fair with Aunt Sarah, Uncle Chad, and Uncle Justin a.k.a. Uncle Juice

While back in NC we got to spend time with great friends... including Maddie's godparents and honorary Uncle Justin. We had a great time at the fair with them including: watching the pig races and duck/billy goat races, Watching Maddie gobble up a pickle, and enjoying all the sites, sounds and smells of the fair. Oh, and green side note: they have recycling all over the fairgrounds now... yippee!!!

Madeline's First Steps!!

That's right... Madeline took her first steps today at about 3pm. She also did it at about 730pm so mommy could see. Hopefully she will let us capture it on video soon. Right now it is only 3 to 5 steps but I'm sure she will learn fast! Our little girl is growing so fast!!

A fun yet overcast sat...

Our sunday school class had a cookout today at the Harbison State Forest and we had a great time with friends. (Sorry, I forgot to bring my camera but I am sure there will be some on Katie's blog soon!) Madeline and I had veggie burgers and she at the WHOLE THING! She loved it! (no bun of course). Our new class leader and family joined us and we had a great time of fun and fellowship together chatting and some of the group played Frisbee. The rain held out for us too which was nice. Once we got home Maddie got a good scrub in the tub since she played HARD at the forest and got very dirty... but hey that is what is so great about kids... a little dirt sure doesn't hurt:-) She is sleeping GOOD tonight!

Maggie Valley, Asheville, Waynesville and Cherokee 2009

We had the enjoyment of going with my mom and dad "grandma and grandpa" to the mountains for a long weekend. Some of the highlights were: AMAZING pumpkin crumble, a picnic in downtown Waynesville, window shopping in downtown, A GREAT date night dinner for Adam's birthday, Yummy brunch at Early Girl Eatery in downtown Asheville, cool artists and music in downtown Asheville, riding the parkway and stopping at a river, and Madeline's favorite... feeding the ducks at our cabin! Above are some pictures from the weekend...

Not a baby anymore...

Today was the first day I have only pumped to relieve my discomfort and it is a mix of emotions for me. I praise God that I have been able to breastfeed Madeline into her first full year of life (and even though I am stopping she still has about a two week freezer supply); however, I am going to miss (sounds strange to some I know) being her source of nourishment. My baby is not a baby anymore. She is trying to walk, she is babbling a lot more, she knows where her nose is, she has mastered that art of finger foods, etc. She's a toddler... and so even though this point of change in our life/relationship makes me miss the days when we were struggling to latch on or making a pumping schedule work while working I feel accomplished... we made it... most people don't or can't and for that I have been blessed...Now it is on to new experiences. I am a non-traditional breastfeeding veteran, retired until the next little family member calls me back to the line of duty... and I love my now trying to toddle toddler so much!

Madeline's 1st Birthday

Well, today is Madeline's first birthday. We're happy our little girl is growing up but a little sad at the same time. We can't believe how fast time is flying by. Here is a picture from a year ago today when the world was introduced to MGC.
